Homemade Sunflower Seed Halva
Description
Simple homemade halva made from roasted sunflower seeds with sugar syrup
- Toast sunflower seeds in a dry skillet until golden, stirring constantly
- Grind the toasted seeds in a blender or coffee grinder until paste-like
- Toast flour in a dry skillet until creamy color, stirring constantly
- Mix ground seeds with toasted flour
- In a small saucepan, combine sugar, water and lemon juice, bring to a boil
- Boil syrup for 5-7 minutes until soft ball stage (115-120°C)
- Add vegetable oil to hot syrup and stir
- Pour hot syrup into seed and flour mixture, stir quickly until homogeneous
- Transfer mixture to a mold lined with plastic wrap, press firmly
- Let halva cool at room temperature for 2-3 hours until fully set
