Simple homemade halva made from roasted sunflower seeds with sugar syrup

  1. Toast sunflower seeds in a dry skillet until golden, stirring constantly
  2. Grind the toasted seeds in a blender or coffee grinder until paste-like
  3. Toast flour in a dry skillet until creamy color, stirring constantly
  4. Mix ground seeds with toasted flour
  5. In a small saucepan, combine sugar, water and lemon juice, bring to a boil
  6. Boil syrup for 5-7 minutes until soft ball stage (115-120°C)
  7. Add vegetable oil to hot syrup and stir
  8. Pour hot syrup into seed and flour mixture, stir quickly until homogeneous
  9. Transfer mixture to a mold lined with plastic wrap, press firmly
  10. Let halva cool at room temperature for 2-3 hours until fully set
