Description

A simple and quick dessert made from ready-made puff pastry with a flavorful poppy seed filling. Perfect for a home tea party.

  1. Thaw a quarter of the puff pastry sheet at room temperature for 20-30 minutes.
  2. Pour a small amount of boiling water over the poppy seeds, let stand for 10 minutes, then drain and squeeze lightly.
  3. Melt butter in a saucepan, add prepared poppy seeds and sugar. Cook over low heat for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly, until sugar dissolves. Let cool.
  4. Roll out the dough into a thin rectangle on a floured surface.
  5. Spread the poppy seed filling over the dough, leaving 1 cm from the edges.
  6. Carefully roll the dough into a tight roll and pinch the edges.
  7. Place the roll seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Beat half an egg and brush the top of the roll.
  9. Make several shallow diagonal cuts on the roll to allow steam to escape.
  10. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (390°F) for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Let the roll cool completely before slicing.
