Poppy Seed Puff Pastry Roll
Description
A simple and quick dessert made from ready-made puff pastry with a flavorful poppy seed filling. Perfect for a home tea party.
- Thaw a quarter of the puff pastry sheet at room temperature for 20-30 minutes.
- Pour a small amount of boiling water over the poppy seeds, let stand for 10 minutes, then drain and squeeze lightly.
- Melt butter in a saucepan, add prepared poppy seeds and sugar. Cook over low heat for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly, until sugar dissolves. Let cool.
- Roll out the dough into a thin rectangle on a floured surface.
- Spread the poppy seed filling over the dough, leaving 1 cm from the edges.
- Carefully roll the dough into a tight roll and pinch the edges.
- Place the roll seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Beat half an egg and brush the top of the roll.
- Make several shallow diagonal cuts on the roll to allow steam to escape.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (390°F) for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Let the roll cool completely before slicing.
