Cheese Croquettes with Cranberry Sauce
Description
Crispy cheese croquettes with ham and aromatic cranberry sauce.
- Grate the processed cheese and Maasdam cheese on a fine grater.
- Cut the ham into very small cubes.
- Mix both types of cheese, ham, dried garlic, and finely chopped parsley until a homogeneous sticky mass forms.
- Form small balls (croquettes) from the cheese mixture, about the size of a walnut.
- Prepare three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs.
- Roll each ball in flour first, then dip in egg, and coat thoroughly with breadcrumbs.
- Heat sunflower oil for deep frying to 180°C in a saucepan or deep fryer.
- Fry the croquettes in batches for 2-3 minutes until golden and crispy.
- Place the finished croquettes on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
- Prepare the sauce: combine frozen cranberries and sugar in a small saucepan.
- Bring the cranberries and sugar to a boil and simmer over low heat for 5-7 minutes, until the berries burst and the sauce thickens slightly.
- Lightly mash the berries with a spoon or leave the sauce with whole berries, as desired.
- Serve the hot cheese croquettes with the warm or cooled cranberry sauce.
