Description

A hearty and aromatic dish of cabbage, minced meat and rice, cooked in layers in the oven or on the stove.

  1. Boil the rice until half-cooked in salted water, drain and let the water run off.
  2. Finely chop the onion, grate the carrot and potato on a coarse grater. Fry the onion and carrot in a pan with a little oil until soft.
  3. Mix the ground beef and pork with rice, half of the fried vegetables, salt, pepper and khmeli suneli.
  4. Thinly slice the cabbage. Cut the tomato into slices.
  5. In a pot or deep baking dish, layer: half of the cabbage, the meat mixture with rice and vegetables, and the remaining cabbage.
  6. Place tomato slices, remaining fried vegetables and potato on top.
  7. Pour in 100 ml of hot water, cover with a lid or foil and simmer over low heat or bake in the oven at 180°C for about 40 minutes.
  8. Serve the stuffed cabbage hot, sprinkled with chopped parsley and drizzled with sour cream.
