Chicken Cordon Bleu with Ham and Cheese
Description
Juicy chicken fillet stuffed with ham and cheese in a crispy breading.
- Cut the chicken fillet in half lengthwise, but not all the way through, open it like a book. Lightly pound through plastic wrap to an even thickness. Season with salt and pepper.
- Place a slice of ham and a slice of cheddar cheese on one half of the fillet.
- Cover with the second half of the fillet, forming a pocket. You can slightly secure the edges with toothpicks.
- Grind the white bread into crumbs (in a blender or on a grater).
- Prepare three plates: one with flour, one with beaten egg, and one with bread crumbs.
- Dredge the chicken pocket first in flour, then dip in egg, and thoroughly coat in bread crumbs.
- Heat sunflower oil in a frying pan. Fry the Cordon Bleu over medium heat on both sides until golden brown (about 5-7 minutes per side).
- Reduce heat to low, cover the pan with a lid and cook for another 7-10 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked. Serve hot.
