Description

A hearty breakfast dish: a boiled egg wrapped in mustard-flavored pork mince and baked in the oven until crispy.

  1. Boil 1 egg hard (about 8-10 minutes after boiling). Cool in cold water and carefully peel.
  2. Season the ground pork with salt, pepper, and add grainy mustard. Mix thoroughly.
  3. In a bowl, beat the remaining raw egg until smooth.
  4. Prepare a breading station: put flour in one plate, breadcrumbs in another.
  5. Wet your hands with water to prevent the meat from sticking. Flatten the mince in your palm, place the peeled boiled egg in the center, and carefully wrap it, forming a tight ball.
  6. Roll the ball in flour, then dip in the beaten egg, and coat thoroughly in breadcrumbs.
  7. Grease a baking dish with vegetable oil. Place the ball in the dish and drizzle a little oil on top.
  8. Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F). Bake the scotch egg for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Let the dish rest for a few minutes before serving so the meat sets.
