Scotch Egg (Baked)
Description
A hearty breakfast dish: a boiled egg wrapped in mustard-flavored pork mince and baked in the oven until crispy.
- Boil 1 egg hard (about 8-10 minutes after boiling). Cool in cold water and carefully peel.
- Season the ground pork with salt, pepper, and add grainy mustard. Mix thoroughly.
- In a bowl, beat the remaining raw egg until smooth.
- Prepare a breading station: put flour in one plate, breadcrumbs in another.
- Wet your hands with water to prevent the meat from sticking. Flatten the mince in your palm, place the peeled boiled egg in the center, and carefully wrap it, forming a tight ball.
- Roll the ball in flour, then dip in the beaten egg, and coat thoroughly in breadcrumbs.
- Grease a baking dish with vegetable oil. Place the ball in the dish and drizzle a little oil on top.
- Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F). Bake the scotch egg for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Let the dish rest for a few minutes before serving so the meat sets.
